Troubleshooting
Plumbing Systems
-
It would be nearly impossible to list
every cause and solution for every problem in a plumbing system.
-
Just imagine all the various types of
faucets, water heaters, toilets sinks, etc. and then attempting to list all
the repair possibilities for each one.
-
Sorry, we enjoy writing, but
are not going to attempt that challenge.
-
We will however track common problems
and solutions for general purpose.

Here are some tips and suggestions for
troubleshooting
-
Know your capabilities and certainly the
lack of your capabilities.
-
Know the safety issues pertaining to any
repair, especially electricity and gas.
-
Try to locate some
manufacturer data or
parts list prior to beginning a repair.
-
Do not attempt a repair without knowing the consequences of
a failed attempt, such as leaving a customer or your family with no water
overnight or for a weekend.
-
If you are a homeowner, it is best to know a plumber to call
in case of an emergency and do not wait until you need one, as you may find
it difficult to contact one in an instant.
-
If you are a homeowner, know local and state codes
pertaining to the work you are performing, they are in place for a reason
and are typically for safety and health reasons.
-
Have the correct tools prior to attempting a repair.
-
The list could go on forever and items are based on the
actual repair, so use common sense and seek as much information prior to
attempting any repair.
-
You will find that any questions asked before you start are
not "dumb questions", it is only when you ask them after your repair attempt failed, do
they become "dumb questions".
