About the School of Trade History of the Plumbing School of Trade Founded in 1997 by Michael A. Joyce located in Cary, NC to offer 8-week programs with a text book format on two separate levels of plumbing education. The local response was great and the school began offering a hands-on format blended with text book education. The text books created by Michael and taught in the Plumbing School of Trade became very popular throughout the State of NC. Due to our statewide expansion in 1999, the physical location of the school was closed and the Plumbing School of Trade began offering seminars and in-house corporate training throughout NC.
Though the weekly teaching of students is no longer offered, several students opted to use the once offered home-study program. They purchased our books and were taught via, telephone, facsimile or e-mail. The initial creation of this website was to allow for the development of an online nationwide plumbing school. It now serves as a educational data website allowing those interested to browse and learn. Though the development process may take time to become popular, we know that there are eager individuals and organizations dedicated to the plumbing profession. In time, we foresee the future of online plumbing education being offered both from a continued education and seminar approach. With our dedication to the plumbing industry and your support of our efforts, we can bring back the once proud reputation plumbers deserve. The lack of individuals entering into the trade has seriously impacted the plumbing industry and we all need to offer anyone interested in the trade an avenue to succeed. With many of the high school graduates going onto college and seeking "white collar" professions, we as an industry have not kept up with our educational offerings. Many individuals entering the plumbing industry do not look ahead and see a possible future in a white collar position, such as a business owner, project manager, estimator or in construction management.
Michael knows first-hand the power of education blended with hard work on a job site. He was a benefactor of several firms who dedicated to employees by offering in-house training and seminars. The motivation of an employee who is provided education is not fully realized by many firms. The lack of training from a company leaves an individual to seek their own plumbing education or to a company that does offer training or move onto another profession. In
the past, the offering of a plumbing program for
individuals were typically offered by a local vocational
college or high school. Many schools have since eliminated plumbing from their
offered classes. Joyce
Company, Inc. is dedicated to fill that void by offering our services and books to
those who wish to dedicate themselves to the
plumbing industry. With your support, we will do our part to educate every individual who has the desire to learn and the willingness to work hard. Thank you very much
